The forest first starts by warning the people against particular interests, and those who go against are killed by it. The forest symbolically represents the villagers' ravenousness and egocentricity. Is the forest emblematically used in the ‘Messenger’? Many people are ready and willing to change themselves into what they aspire to be, but it is not the case for Kira. For instance, if Kira gets healed, she will transform into a different person, and she finds this as improper. Kira is keen on preserving her identity because she feels that the healing will interfere with her true-self, and people might not be able to identify her. The reader finds it ironic that Kira is not ready to have her leg cured for free by Matty's healing gift. Why is Kira reluctant to accept Matty’s offer to heal her stiff leg? She made the choice that she really wanted to write, due to the fact that nothing else was really working out for her. There was never much of a break, but caught a lucky break and got the graveyard shift for a little while. She had a desktop and a laptop right next to each other, and would type stories in between calls. It was nice for her, but not a job for her. She took calls concerning car reservations and was able to get herself a work at home position. She got a real job, working at Enterprise Rent a Car, working at their call center. You have to go to school and get a real job, and write when you have some free time. She thought little of it, because everyone always says that a career in writing is not really an option at all. She took a manuscript that she had written while in a creative writing course at University of California Santa Cruz. She started typing up her urban fantasy novels on her computer while she was in high school. There are different kinds of stories, some written in crayon. She has many boxes in her garage, full of notebooks, some that date back to when she was a child. It is her passion and a big hobby of hers, and has been so as long as she can remember. Stunich cannot remember when she started writing she has just always written. Again, a state is not made up only of so many men, but of different kinds of men for similars do not constitute a state. So that we ought not to attain this greatest unity even if we could, for it would be the destruction of the state. I am speaking of the premise from which the argument of Socrates proceeds, ‘that the greater the unity of the state the better.’ Is it not obvious that a state may at length attain such a degree of unity as to be no longer a state? since the nature of a state is to be a plurality, and in tending to greater unity, from being a state, it becomes a family, and from being a family, an individual for the family may be said to be more than the state, and the individual than the family. Further, as a means to the end which he ascribes to the state, the scheme, taken literally is impracticable, and how we are to interpret it is nowhere precisely stated. And the principle on which Socrates rests the necessity of such an institution evidently is not established by his arguments. There are many difficulties in the community of women. So let’s put it this way: Eisner’s 1978 A Contract With God is widely regarded as the first modern graphic novel. “Comics nerds are a nitpicky, combative lot, so whenever Will Eisner’s collection of comics short stories gets called “the first graphic novel,” the “um, actually”s descend like so many neck-bearded locusts to remind everyone about Rodolphe Topffer and Lynd Ward and to point out that it’s not a novel, it’s a collection of stories. It made the list based on votes from readers, and a final panel of critics and creators. Here’s what they had to say about Eisner’s collection. In 2017, Glen Weldon and Petra Mayer wrote a piece for NPR, “100 Best Comics and Graphic Novels”. So why not try the work of the man who started it all? The comic industry’s top awards, the Eisner Awards, are named in his honor. And, of course, to Will Eisner, who drew one of the original graphic novels with his anthology, A Contract with God and Other Tenement Stories. So, I went back to the beginning, to black-and-white sketches and words I could see. But, we’re doing a genre study of graphic novels this month at the library. Visually, I just can’t always see the words. I have problems with some of colors and overlapping words. Witches For Hire might clock in at five or six books plus a sequel series called Knights For Hire. Family Of Lies will have at least 12 books(including a prequel). I just wanted to be in a better headspace and share all this when I was getting enough work done under both names.Īs for Sam Argent, that is now the name I’ll mostly publish long series under. I actually hid a few blog posts on this site about Blood and Motive to be extra sneaky. Next will be Blood and Motive that I’m currently working on the edits for. This name will be used for shorter stories or series that are 2-3 books(there are a tons of these in my head).Ĭurrently out under Indy Strange are Veiled Dancer(Gay Fantasy version of The Bachelor) and War God’s Servant(weird horny War God story). On Twitter, you can find me here:, where I’m more likely to post. Of course there’s also a tv reference in there. I’m weird as fuck and have long accepted it. Indy – shout out to my entire family being from Indiana(except me, LOL). Like Sam Argent, there are a bunch of references in it: Indy Strange. Soooo, in order to get over the writing hump when my books were unpublished, I started another pseudonym.
